Gloomy Salad Days Episode 7 and 8 recaps
Woots! Okay these recaps have definitely many more screenshots. Why? Because there is more Aaron screentime (YAY!) and this obviously equates to having many more screenshots of him whenever he appears. The day has finally come (wipes tears off my cheek) when I finally waited till Aaron appeared from 10seconds per episode, to 2minutes per second, to finally 10 minutes per episode. Thank you thank you.
Ah!
It just occurred to me that I seem to have totally given up on Love Buffet recaps:O I think I will complete them one day, but not any time soon then!
Friends, do help me to spread this livejournal around (lol sounds like jam)! If you see any problems with my recaps/whatever, please feel free to comment so that I can improve(: I have no idea what’s wrong though… is it because I’ve been recapping Taiwanese Dramas recently, and Kdramas are more popular?

Gloomy Salad Days Episode 4-6 Review/Mini Recaps
Hi there!!
Finally got down to writing the review for these 3 episodes, but pardon me if I don’t sound coherent, because I’m burning a high feverD:
Okay, so this drama is broken up into many short stories, and basically each short story spans around 2 episodes, with the second episode showing how the stone gets found by the next short story’s leads. In this episode, Xiao Lin (the main character of the story) talks to Du, the messenger/Death, depends on how you look at it, but no one else can see Du. A few girls think that she has gone crazy, but Shen Qi, who doesn’t need a stone to see Du, stands there in shock seeing Xiao Lin talking to Du.
OH man
I really hate it… when I’m sick!!
I’m sorry guys! I was going to update today about Gloomy Salad Days, but I fell really ill… zzzz. So I’m just dropping by to tell you guys that I will continue updating of course, very soon!:D

First impressions of Gloomy Salad Days
Yay! So I’ve finally decided that I shall watch Gloomy Salad Days for Aaron Yan.
First impression?
This is a drama that’s really not bad. Not bad at all! Okay, however, it’s really down and depressing, so if you’re those who seek a fun rom-com, this is totally not it. According to Wikipedia, these are all true real life social cases, and I admit, it does get me a little down to know that there’re so many thoughts of death in teens. I mean, in a drama where it revolves around Death, just how un-gloomy can it get right? I think that the first 3 episodes have made a very good impression on me, because they found actors and actresses that can act, and who can convey the idea of hopelessness, desperation and grief quite well. They are so good, that it almost (stress:almost) didn’t matter that I probably only caught like one minute of Aaron Yan in total in these three episodes.
First scene of Aaron Yan:
In case you say that I’ve only eyes for Aaron Yan, hey here’s a pretty girl^^ Lol.
I’m definitely sticking through with this drama till the end, not just because Shen Qi (Aaron Yan)’s romance comes at the end, but also because I find that each short story ( this drama is made up of a few short stories ) strikes me as a reflection of reality. It really depends on the direction of the drama’s plot to see if I will do recaps for this drama, because I personally feel that you must watch this and not read this drama in order to feel something. I might change my mind later though(:
So, drama aside, I really like the style of the character that Aaron Yan portrays in this show! On a side note, I was watching an advertisement about Love Buffet and they compared Da Ye and Ah Yi. Da Ye is like the sun and the wind, while Ah Yi is like the moon and the rain. WOW, coincidental much? ( because I really love the moon and the rain haha^^) Anyway, so far, Shen Qi strikes me as someone very introverted. Even though he doesn’t speak much, he does know a lot. I’m looking forward to the meeting of paths between Shen Qi and Du in future episodes ( played by Serena Fang, who is Zhen En in Summer’s Desire).
All right! That’s all from me now. Comments?

Again:P
Hello everyone!
Okay this is just a really informal post… to talk about how I’m so glad that you guys are here to read thoughtsramble. It sounds cliche, but my wish of doing this properly wouldn’t have been possible if not for you guys. I remember asking for your help months ago, to help spread the existence of this livejournal to anyone you think might like/love it, and some of you did, which I’m really thankful for. For those readers who discovered this livejournal super early, you might recall about how I said that my readership has dropped after Playful Kiss, which is okay since I’ve anticipated that coming.
Ah, this isn’t a post to talk about readership… not really:P It’s just a hope that more people will help to spread this around. In the earlier stages of this livejournal’s existence, I ever considered dropping this because there’re just too few people for me to go on ( but I didn’t drop it in the end because I figured I will write even for that few loyal readersXD). On a side note, I discovered that I might have given myself unnecessary sadness because I didn’t know that Livejournal’s visitor stats only take into account those who have logged in livejournal accounts. Lol.
Anyway, statistics isn’t that important to me in a sense that I know they’re just numbers. They’re numbers that even differ along with what counters you use. However, readership is quite important to me, because I want to know if this site is working for you guys. It’s a platform for me to share my thoughts but you guys should enjoy this site too, in order for thoughtsramble to succeed. I’m not talking about making it big, or to be as famous as sites like Dramabeans…In that sense, statistics are ironically, quite essential for me as well, because they’re markers of your reactions to my posts. I don’t care about the numbers, but I do care when the numbers go down and stay there because then… there must be something uninteresting going on.
He loves me, he loves me not review

I’ve just watched this movie!^^
It’s a 2002 film with Audrey Tautau. I must admit that knowing what has already happened (thank Wikipedia for this) has both its pros and cons. The bad thing is, I already knew what will happen, hence no surprise there, and that Angelique(Audrey Tautau) has been imagining things. The good thing is, it has allowed me to guess what the other points of views are, while watching Angelique’s point of view of the story. It’s also interesting to note how a certain observation that gives you a certain idea of what has happened, can actually be attributed to a totally different reason.
I didn’t take too much notice of the actors’ acting, because I was more focused on trying to understand the french words spoken, and trying to ignore the english subtitles. Ah, trying being the key word:P However, I think that this movie is really interesting and it’s just so…. frenchy! In a good way I guess. French movies, as I’ve mentioned before, seem to have their own flavour of quirkiness and weirdness and strangeness.
Gloomy Salad Days? Or MIT
Right, so I said that I was going to watch a drama with Aaron Yan as the lead (should have no second-lead induced sadness then) and I couldn’t decide between MIT and Gloomy Salad Days! I’ve heard that Aaron Yan and Guigui have the best chemistry ever but I find it hard to like (granted, I haven’t watched the show yet) because the first show I’ve watched Aaron Yan in is Love Buffet, and naturally I would pair him up with the actress in Love Buffet… so I don’t know if I’ll enjoy watching GuiLun(that’s how they call it!^^) in MIT! Haha! Maybe I’ll start out with Gloomy Salad Days first(:
Love Buffet Episode 10 Recap
Fahrenheit
I would really have to say that Fahrenheit’s appearance on Jacky Wu’s variety show where they have to find items that are suspicious is just simply hilarious. Aaron Yan’s so smart! Gotta love the four of them(:
Haha fret not, this space is not going to turn into a fangirling platform for Fahrenheit… I’m just expressing my new findings lol!

Love Buffet Episode 9 Recap
Updates(:
Yay! Okay I declare myself an addict to two of Fahrenheit’s songs in Love Buffet! It’s like Love Buffet will never make it to my favourite dramas simply because… Ah Yi didn’t get the girl:P but I really like their two songs inside the show. I’m so addicted to the two songs, they are all that I’m listening to these few days. One of them is called Mistake and it puts me in a really sad mood whenever I listen to it. The other is probably called Guardian Star if you translate directly from its Chinese title, and it puts me in such a good, bouncy mood!^^ My friend calls me bipolar. Haha! I find that I have a better view of Fahrenheit now(: I never hated them; I just thought they were eye candy…. they may still be eye candy right now, but after watching several videos of them going onto variety shows and such, I think they’re really funny, cute, nice and talented in certain areas that I (and I’m pretty sure many others) have not realised before.
I’m so in love with those two songs mentioned, that…. even though I’m usually very open to any kind of comments, right now, I wouldn’t like anyone telling me that they suck, they are not that nice etc. However, if you are a fellow fan just like me, feel free to comment! I will love it if you comment and fangirl with me really:P
(Aaron Yan is just so cute and good looking and wheeeeee:D)
I realise after searching for the track list for their newest album, that I actually already heard like 5 or 6 songs before!:O
Exams are coming again…. for my really loyal readers, you would remember how busy I was whenever I had exams last year (and busy with putting up Playful Kiss recaps as well). I’m kinda stressed out, but I know I will survive!:D For all those out there, I wish you all the best in your work and your studies… and may you never be too busy to immerse yourself in dramaland(: Since exams are coming, I’m not sure though, if I should start watching Gloomy Salad Days for Aaron:P
Love Buffet Episode 8 Recap
Sigh. It feels heartbreaking to be recapping these episodes now, since I already know the ending.. sigh:/
Omo
Okay I’ve just finished watching the last episode of Love Buffet… and meh!!!! -spoilers ahead- WHYYYYYY okay Xiao Feng decides to go with Da Ye after all, even though Ah Yi tells her that he will like her forever. Even till the end, Ah Yi still likes her, but Xiao Feng truly likes Da Ye…
I can’t decide if I like Aaron Yan more or Ah Yi more haha! Somehow I feel that I do see a little of Aaron in Ah Yi ( as in the same kind of aura?) not sure… but anyway, feeling rather:/ about the ending now! It’s like Ah Yi just wishes Xiao Feng to be happy… then what about himself? I wouldn’t mind it so much if he ends up with someone else, but he tells Da Ye that he will treasure the drawing that Xiao Feng drew, meaning…he will still continue to like Xiao Feng…
Sigh. Sometimes I wish I weren’t suckers for second leads, then I wouldn’t feel sad so many times. Hrumph.

I can’t believe it. So Episode 13 IS the last episode?!

Love Buffet Episode 7 Recap
Right now, I’m feeling dilemma-ish (again) on recaps. On one hand, I want to share nice and sweet dramas with my readers in hope that they will watch and support the drama/get feedback. However, on the other hand, I’m very aware that people read recaps and then even if they still watch the drama, it wouldn’t feel as good as you watch it first hand. Hmm..
Love Buffet Episode 6 Recap
Haha recaps are getting longer and longer with sharp increase in number of screenshots!:O
Xiao Feng sprains her ankle, and Ah Yi runs over. She’s obviously in much pain, but the first thing that Ah Yi says is — "Idiot." Xiao Feng says that she’s already in much pain, yet he still scolds her that. In his own way of caring, Ah Yi piggybacks her in front of everyone and brings her back to the hostel, with everyone staring with a combination of shock, surprise, (jealousy?:P) and speculation.
Love Buffet Episode 6 recap here!!<3 Ah Yi+Xiao Feng hee hee
Love Buffet Episode 5 Recap
Wow! I never thought I would need to use an lj cut for recaps on Love Buffet haha!:P
Xiao Feng gorges on food and her friends tell her "You’ve been thinking about your own feelings, but have you thought about Da Ye’s feelings?" and that they have discovered something. Xiao Feng sits by her window and looks up, wondering why the light is not on in Da Ye’s room. Suddenly, someone says, "What are you spying on?" Shocked, Xiao Feng jerks backwards and Ah Yi catches her.
Guess what!
Haha I’m still on Love Buffet… don’t know if you guys still remember, but I mentioned quite a few entries ago that my mum bought Summer’s Desire to watch…. so as expected, I’m currently watching episode 2 with her! It seems quite nice so far.. but I don’t think I’ll be doing any recaps for that because it’ll be very hard to get screenshots… do expect a few comments here and there(:
Have you guys watched Summer’s Desire already? I really, really like the books!

Love Buffet Episode 4 Recap
Yay(: More Da Ye screenshots this time round!:D
So Da Ye leans on Xiao Feng’s shoulder for one minute, and after that, he’s okay. Da Ye accidentally sees the photo that Xiao Feng has kept ( the one with them in the background) but he only sees Ah Ji ( the guy in the front), hence he concludes that Xiao Feng likes Ah Ji. He tells Xiao Feng that he will help her, even though her taste is a little weird.
Xiao Feng’s friends learn about this whole matter, and conclude that the most unlucky person out of this whole matter is Ah Ji, because he thought that Xiao Feng likes him, even though she doesn’t. They start to laugh at how unlucky he looks just from the pose he makes in the photo, when Xiao Feng realises that he’s just standing behind them. He strikes the same pose, with the same face —
After she goes home, she realises that there’s just a slight possibility of Ah Ji telling Da Ye that she likes him and she tries to find his number to call him. However, they’re in different faculties so there’s no way that she would have his number. She rushes upstairs, and upon finding Da Ye not at home, she happily asks if Ah Yi will help her out — to steal the phonebook of the business faculty so that she can find Ah Ji’s number and call him.
Ah Yi flatly refuses, and Xiao Feng whines. Ah Yi tells her that she can just caution Ah Ji again the next day, since she has already told him not to tell Da Ye. "Or do you think that he’s a big mouth?"
Even Qiu Ying tells her that at least she dares to take responsibility for her own love… "But you didn’t succeed as well…" "At least I can account for myself… not like you… you’re the coward… you’re scared that you will hear the answer that you don’t want to hear, so you keep this ambiguous relationship going on… you’re quite smart.. an ambiguous relationship will indeed add sweetness to the relationship, but the pre requisite is there’s a relationship in the first place."
Ah Yi comes along, and asks if she knows what Da Ye’s feeling. Xiao Feng answers that she definitely has more courage than he thinks she has. They have a softball/baseball ( I can’t really tell:P) competition. Xiao Feng’s the pitcher while Da Ye’s the batter. Xiao Feng throws the ball, and Da Ye manages to hit it, but the ball hits her ankle. It hurts terribly since the force is so great. Da Ye rushes up to her and carries her off the field.
Xiao Feng looks at the stack of photos that she has collected over some period of time, and starts to cry. She has no idea that a rejection will bring so much heartbreak, and she throws the stack of photos into the dustbin. Qiu Ying brings Xiao Feng to a physical therapist. Qiu Ying jokes that she’s really so stupid as to confess to Da Ye. Xiao Feng replies that it’s all because of Qiu Ying’s agitation, and she suddenly shrieks because the physical therapist presses very hard on the swell. The therapist tells her that all suffering will pass, and when this pain is over, you will realise that it’s all worth it. Qiu Ying tells him that Xiao Feng will not understand what he’s talking about, but Xiao Feng says that she’s not stupid. Qiu Ying laughs and says that " Maybe it’s like that that no one can stop noticing you…" Xiao Feng laughs and asks if Qiu Ying can be friends with her; they’re really in the same boat now. They aren’t even love rivals anymore.
In school, Xiao Feng can’t help but look out of the window and across to Da Ye’s block. While she’s doing this, her friends AND Ah Yi notice.
Her friends want to cheer her up, so they booked a karaoke room. Ah Ji wants to cheer Xiao Feng up and so he tags along. Xiao Feng wants Qiu Ying to come along as well, since they’re suffering from the same kind of heartbreak. It was quite funny when the song they chose was a sad break up song, and Xiao Feng, Qiu Ying ( suffering from Da Ye’s rejection) and Ah Ji ( technically suffering from Xiao Feng’s rejection) all stare at the screen in stony silence. Very soon, they start to hug each other and cry together.
Ah Yi buys a hair clip for Xiao Feng so that she can cheer up. Pardon me while I say AWWW:D Okay it’s just really sweet, and it’s these kind of small gestures that usually make me fall in love with a character(: Xiao Feng happily wears the clip, until she recalls Ah Yi telling her that she has a lot of charm in his heart. She quickly pulls off the clip, and after walking out of the toilet, she sees Da Ye being all chummy with a few seniors. She runs away, and Da Ye runs after her. Da Ye asks if they can just return back to normal, and she says, "The one being rejected is me. How can you ask if we can go back to normal?" and she walks away.
Back at home, Xiao Feng’s parents and her sister try to cheer her up, but her parents end up on horny talk about doing it. Her sister chases their parents out and she tells Xiao Feng that sometimes relationships are just like that. Xiao Feng nods. Da Ye continues to be playboyish with all the senior girls, but Ah Ji sees through his front. He knows that Da Ye is hurting a lot inside, and that he’s doing all that hide his pain. During lesson, Da Ye stares out of his window at Xiao Feng and he’s in such deep thought that he doesn’t hear his teacher call his name. Xiao Feng purposely not want to draw the curtain so that she will not look at Da Ye. However, her classmates say that it’s very stuffy in the classroom, so they want to draw the curtains. Xiao Feng doesn’t want to, but then she can’t say why. Ah Yi comes to her rescue and starts to talk a lot of gibberish about how Xiao Feng has this disease that will cause her to grow spikes upon contact with sunlight, and these spikes will pierce those ugly and tanned people to death. No one understands what he says until he explains that "Don’t you understand? Those people who are already ugly and tanned will make Xiao Feng draw the curtain, and those who aren’t will understand her reason ( meaning Xiao Feng doesn’t want to become tan from the sunlight)" Her classmates immediately become all understanding as they wouldn’t want to be called as ugly and tan.
Da Ye wants to find Xiao Feng to talk to her, and her friends manage to leak out that she has gone back to her classroom to take something. Da Ye rushes back to the classroom, but she’s not there. A senior walks in to asks if he’s going for the karaoke session with them, and he says that he feels a little unwell. The concerned senior places a hand on his forehead and asks if he’s all right. Talk about timing — Xiao Feng happens to walk in and sees them.
-the end-
More screenshots recap this time round! I think that both Da Ye and Ah Yi are quite sweet. I figure that I like Ah Yi more because I’m attracted to that kind of character — someone who expresses his concern through the smallest actions. It’s a small gesture, but you get the feeling. Da Ye, on the other hand, has his own merits as well, of course! He’s kind, outgoing and caring, but his flaw is that he doesn’t understand the feeling of love. This may actually be quite lovable to some, seeing that my friend thinks it’s kinda cute for someone not to know what’s love. My other friend, however, thinks that the show is actually quite boring and flat, and the only reason why she’s continuing to watch is because of Ah Yi ( and she doesn’t even like Ah Yi that much too). I guess what this show really appeals to me is the simplicity of it. There’s nothing dramatic about it — no amnesia, no cancer, no accident ( and I sincerely hope it will continue to be this way for the future episodes unless absolutely needed), but it’s also so simple that it makes me doubt their love. It’s the kind of show that will be fun and enjoyable to watch on the go, when I’m bored, or when I particularly want to watch Ah Yi/Aaron, but it’s not the kind that will stay in my heart and remind me of the characters’ love for each other.
Because I don’t see love… I see crushes, and to me, crushes are no where near love. It’s like… crushes are teetering on the edge of falling into a pool of love, teetering but never falling into the pool. Yet, I’ve no idea if this love that I’m talking about is built entirely on other dramas.
Of course, those thoughts above are just occasional flitting thoughts, and they never spoil the show for me. Hope you guys like my recaps!(: Please do comment on how you feel about the drama/couple pairings; I would love to hear your thoughts(:

Love Buffet Episode 3 Recap
Continuing on….(:
Xiao Feng needs some tennis shoes, and she invites Da Ye to help give her advice because she secretly wants a date with him. However, the ignorant-of-her-feelings Da Ye says that he has not much experience with female tennis shoes, so he in turn invites Qiu Ying to come along with them. Xiao Feng gets super excited even though her spirits were a little dampened by the fact that Qiu Ying is tagging along as well. Her friends advice her to dress up well so that she will appear like she cares about this ‘date’. Oh she dresses up so ‘well’, that it kinda makes Da Ye and Qiu Ying feel really weird about her dress combi ( a hat, with boots, leopard prints pants, sundress… everything(: ) Qiu Ying says that she wants to go to an art exhibition, and Da Ye says it’s okay to go there before they buy tennis shoes first. While on the scene, Xiao Feng is a little bored, and she suddenly needs to go to the toilet. She goes into one of those mobile toilets, when Da Ye realises that the artist of the abstract art work is going to set fire to a lot of things — like sofa, and etc, and that the last thing that will blow up is the toilet. Da Ye gets very worried and rushes towards the mobile toilet, but a security guard stops him. Luckily, the fire stops in time, and Xiao Feng comes out from the toilet with everyone staring at her. She doesn’t know what has happened, but everyone just started clapping, thinking that it was intentional of the artist to do that.
The artist, instead of being unhappy with Xiao Feng for screwing up her work, is actually quite happy with the end result. However, Xiao Feng still feels very embarrassed. She is cheered up by Qiu Ying and Da Ye, but embarrasses herself again later on when she goes to buy shoes and no one could take her boots off. In the end, the shop assistant finally tucks her boots off, which causes them to fly and break something in the shop. In an attempt to cheer her up, Da Ye offers to cook a scrumptious meal for them. Xiao Feng returns home first to change, but when she returns, she sees Qiu Ying touching Da Ye’s face. She thinks that they’re going to kiss, and runs off, saying that she doesn’t feel hungry anymore. She runs outside of the house, and starts to cry, when Ah Yi turns up.
Qiu Ying keeps behaving like she’s the lady of the house, and it gets Ah Yi very irritated, especially when he sees how inferior Xiao Feng feels. This shows that he’s slowly liking Xiao Feng, even though he hasn’t realised it yet. The next day, Xiao Feng witnesses someone confessing to Qiu Ying, and she accidentally hears Qiu Ying murmurs, "A toad wanting to eat swan’s flesh", something that the Qiu Ying she knows wouldn’t say. Qiu Ying realises that Xiao Feng hears her, and tells her the truth — that she has been acting all this while. She’s just trying to get Da Ye to fall in love with her, and she has purposely touched Da Ye’s face as well. Hearing that, Xiao Feng’s all the more determined to win Qiu Ying in getting Da Ye’s heart. She starts to behave like Qiu Ying, and practising in front of the mirror to say in a very demure way "Da Ye -sweet smile-"
Ah Yi realises that something is wrong with Xiao Feng, as she doesn’t squabble with him like she usually does. Instead, she goes in soft tones and keeps smiling. Ah Yi thinks that it’s very amusing and lets her be, until she spots Da Ye a few floors up. She runs up to him, and is in the mode of sweetness, when she realises that Qiu Ying has gotten there first. However, Da Ye tells her that "I think that your face is so cute" and she believes that she wants to make Da Ye like her in her true self, and not like Qiu Ying who simply puts on a front.
Later, Qiu Ying has a sprained ankle that’s caused by Da Ye, and the guilt stricken Da Ye offers to fetch her to and from school every day. Xiao Feng reveals to her friends the two-faced Qiu Ying, and her friends say that they’re not surprised because their previous experience with her has also showed that she’s very double faced.
(okay I forgot where this screenshot came from, but who cares(:)
Qiu Ying comes to find Xiao Feng in her class, and Ah Yi notices how terrified Xiao Feng is ( because Xiao Feng and her friends think that she’s super scary. She admits to faking the sprained ankle, and that she wouldn’t mind acting for her whole life if it will make Da Ye likes her) Qiu Ying tells Xiao Feng that she wants to confess to Da Ye, which she does, but she gets rejected. As she unravels her bandage and thanks Da Ye for taking care of her all these days, Xiao Feng doesn’t know what to feel. Qiu Ying walks away, and that’s when Xiao Feng realises that Qiu Ying isn’t faking the injury at all — she’s really limping. This whole episode causes Da Ye to feel really down, and he asks Xiao Feng to accompany him to the beach.
-the end-
AH YI:D I think this is so far, quite a successful adaptation of the manga… what I mean is that it feels right so far. I didn’t read the manga, so I wouldn’t know if it’s a good, or suitable adaptation, but at least, it doesn’t give the vibes of it being a doomed flop right from the start. I was really, really interested in Momo Love, but then right from the first episode, a lot of interest was lost. Even though I persisted all the way till the end, I didn’t have much memories of it, probably because I didn’t really like Cindy. However, Love Buffet is quite convincing in a sense… the girl that’s supposed to be cute is cute, the guy that’s supposed to be cool is cool…. the guy that’s supposed to be happy go lucky is happy go lucky.. though I would think it’s a tad too much. To be fair, it might be easier to act cool than to act nice.
Is anyone really envious of Xiao Feng right now?(:

Shoot
I just realise something — I’m extremely biased in my Love Buffet 2nd Episode recap! There’s not a single screenshot of Calvin anywhere. Gosh gomenasai ne! However, I will just like to explain. I’m getting increasingly busy nowadays, but I will still like to share whatever stuff I’m watching with you guys, so in that case, I can only take a limited number of screenshots…. and when I obviously look out for more Ah Yi scenes than Da Ye scenes, the ratio of those screenshots will not be balanced. I hope you guys can understand, and if you are Calvin fans, I can assure you that I don’t dislike him — I just don’t really like Da Ye. Heh.

Love Buffet Episode 2 Recap
Woots!:DD
Xiao Feng admits to her friends that she might be crushing on Da Ye, and her friends tease her about it, while encouraging her on. Brimming with love, she feels like she can fly, and even those kids that she is playing with get so tired after playing games with her. She happily tells them that it’s because of love, when Ah Yi appears and tells her not to teach stupid things to kids because they will become stupid as well.
Xiao Feng informs him that she doesn’t have the words "give up" and "fear" in her dictionary. "If there’s going to be fear, why have a relationship?" Ah Yi ponders for a while, then smiles.
On the way to school, Da Ye jokes that he will join the tennis club because of the short skirts that the girls wear. Some girl approaches Da Ye, obviously wanting to confess to him. Ah Yi says that he doesn’t want to be late, and continues walking. He asks if Xiao Feng wants to come with him, ( aww so sweet!) but Da Ye pulls Xiao Feng back into his embrace and tells the girl that "The ambiance right now is so good…is it okay if you don’t disturb us?" Xiao Feng is very happy, even though she knows that Da Ye was just saying that to reject the girl.
Xiao Feng’s good friends find a photo of a guy, but the guy isn’t the main point. The main point is that she and Da Ye were in the background. Xiao Feng is so excited, because she always wants a photo that has her and Da Ye together. Her friends promise that they will help her print the photo so that she can go to the library to find her research. The senior that Da Ye saw last time in the lecture room invites him to join the tennis club, and Da Ye accepts. Ah Yi helps Xiao Feng find the books that they need, while asking "Don’t you feel suffocated in such a literary and artsy environment?" Xiao Feng admires Ah Yi’s courage in choosing to take up social sciences when he should have gone into the business faculty. Ah Yi recalls his grandfather scolding him and he looks down. He tells Xiao Feng that he doesn’t want to do something that goes against with what he wants, and Xiao Feng tells him that he looks very cool while saying that. Ah Yi smiles and tells her that she must have known her strengths and interests very well — since she always ties her hair in different styles everyday and she hangs out with kids a lot. Xiao Feng laughs and says that he must have been noticing her even though he has been feigning indifference. Ah Yi looks uncomfortable, and retorts that it’s because she’s such a nuisance to the eyes that he can’t help but notice her when she’s in his vision.
Later, Xiao Feng is sad to find that Da Ye really entered the tennis club. At night, her sister asks her for help because she cannot come up with the last ten pages of her draft that she has to submit the next day. Xiao Feng gathers the forces of her neighbours and this is how Ah Yi and Da Ye end up helping her sister as well, even though Ah Yi wants to sleep. Xiao Feng teaches Da Ye how to erase properly, and has a lot of body contact with him, but quickly jumps away when Ah Yi points that out. The next day, Ah Yi returns first while Xiao Feng looks at a sleeping Da Ye. Da Ye suddenly opens his eyes, but it turns out that he’s still dreaming. Xiao Feng wonders what’s in his dreams, and when she goes back to sleep, she dreams of him instead. She’s so happy and jovial during her meal, that her mother goes to ask her sister if there’s anything wrong with her. Her sister replies that "Her autumn is here(:" which actually means that her love is here.
In school, Xiao Feng either stares out of the window lovesickly at Da Ye (who is directly opposite her in another block ) or sleeps. Her friends lend her their notes to copy, but halfway through, she decides to gain mental strength by running to Da Ye’s classroom and sitting there, touching the desk, laughing to herself. (Crap, am I making her sound a little loony?) When she gets back into the class, Ah Yi’s standing there looking at her notes. He tells her that she makes a lot of mistakes in her notes, and asks her where she has gone to. Xiao Feng insists that she has gone to the toilet, but the dubious Ah Yi takes a look out of the window —
and asks, "You mean the toilet is at Da Ye’s seat?" He says that he will tell Da Ye, but Xiao Feng jumps up and says, "Orhhh why are you spying on me? And why do you have to tell Da Ye this kind of trivial things? You are so bad. Hrumph" and she looks away. Ah Yi laughs and says, "Idiot." Xiao Feng tells Ah Yi that he should smile more often so that people won’t think that he’s hard to get close too. Suddenly, a gust of wind blows, and Xiao Feng falls over. ( LOL. How on earth can a gust of wind blow people over? But whatever, I’m not going to complain since it’s going to lead on to the next scene ) Ah Yi reaches out to steady her —
and they look into each other’s eyes. (AHHH no matter how ridiculous this situation is, it’s forgiven(:) This moment is broken by Ah Yi himself, but it’s too late. Some classmates already saw them. By next day, rumours are flying around that Xiao Feng and Ah Yi have shared a passionate kiss in class. Xiao Feng explains to Da Ye that she really didn’t kiss Ah Yi, but Da Ye doesn’t understand why she’s so worked up about it since "A kiss is like fries with ketchup, a pizza with coke.." However, to Xiao Feng, "A kiss is a promise of love." While on this topic, Da Ye reveals that he probably can’t love anyone… because he doesn’t know what’s the idea of love. He doesn’t know how the feeling of love should feel like… and this is why he can’t accept anyone yet, at least not until he figures his own heart out. Xiao Feng returns to the classroom and tells the class that she really didn’t kiss Ah Yi. After hearing what Da Ye said, Xiao Feng gets down and Ah Yi asks if she wants to eat with him.
Xiao Feng reveals that Da Ye says that he has no idea of what’s love, and to Xiao Feng, that’s like rejection because then, how will Da Ye ever fall in love with her? Ah Yi pushes Xiao Feng off the slide, and tells her that if she really wants it, then she must fight for it! Since she doesn’t have the word ‘give up’ in her dictionary, she should not be afraid of putting in her best. After saying that, he offers her fries, but she doesn’t want it as she recalls what Da Ye says about how a kiss is like fries with ketchup. Xiao Feng purposely drops by tennis club after lesson and Da Ye invites her to his house to watch DVD. Excited, Xiao Feng puts on lipgloss but everyone thinks that she has eaten oily chicken. Even Da Ye asks her to wipe the oil off since it’s so dirty. Later on, Xiao Feng puts on a dimmer lipgloss, and Da Ye realises that it’s lipgloss. He says, "It looks really yummy." and Xiao Feng recalls what he says about the kiss, thus she replies, "Would you like to eat it?" Da Ye goes nearer and nearer to her, until he remembers her saying that a kiss is like a promise. A call breaks the silence, and Da Ye moves away, pretending that he’s just pulling her leg.
They go to the place where Ah Yi has a part time job, and the lady boss comes back from some errands. She starts to make jokes about how she thinks the three of them are in a triangle relationship and how "If I’m the girl and two such handsome guys like me, I wouldn’t know what to do!! HAHAHAHA"
The next day, Xiao Feng joins the tennis club so that she can shorten the distance between her and Da Ye. The senior, called Qiu Ying, knows that she hasn’t bought her racquet, and gives her her old one. While walking home with Ah Yi, Xiao Feng sees the stray dog that has already grown so much. She rushes up and coos to the dog, but realises that Ah Yi has a fear of dogs. She starts laughing and singing songs because she realises that he’s like a human too — with fears, and not always as cool as he seems.
but Ah Yi breaks off (again!) by saying that her arms are too fat and it’s time that she goes on a diet. She hrumphs and continues to talk to the dog, while Ah Yi turns back and looks at her.
-the end-
Lalalala! So much air time for Ah Yi and Xiao Feng!:D Even though the gust of wind is just too hilarious, but it’s still romantic, and hey, who doesn’t want to watch Ah Yi being all shy and smiley around Xiao Feng?:D I mention before that I thought Aaron might have the best acting skills out of the four of them, because to me, I’ve seen more than 2 faces of expressions. Even though it might not be natural, but at least I can tell what he’s trying to convey. Or maybe, I’m just being biased because Ah Yi’s character is someone that I will just fall in love with, no doubts.

Don’t ever apologise for what you have written or said, because that’s like saying sorry for being real.
p.s I thought that my recap’s too short to put in a lj cut, but if any of you thinks that I’m clogging up too much space on the Friend’s page, do tell me!:D
I have no idea why…
but it seems that I’m hooked on Love Buffet! I really have no idea why… There’s nothing that should pull me in, seeing that most of them can’t act, the storyline is very typical manga-ish, and I know that the girl is going to piss me off pretty soon with her fickle mindedness.
Thus, I conclude that it’s due to Aaron’s presence! I really like his character right from the first episode, and that made me wonder if my Second Lead Instinct is really that awesome. I thought he was the lead at first, and I was still wondering why I would like the lead so fast, when I realise while reading some other people’s comments that nooooo he’s not the lead, he’s the second lead. Argh! To think that I used to sympathise with Calvin for being always stuck with second lead roles whenever he appears in a drama with another Fahrenheit member. I wish I could pull back in all that sympathy now. It’s not that I have something against him, no, not really… but honestly, he can’t act, and he cannot bring out the cuteness of his role at all… His character sounds like someone that I would fall insanely in love with, but from the drama, I don’t think that will be very possible. Seriously…why would anyone choose Calvin over Aaron?
Lol, okay that was just a joke. Please don’t bombard me with anti Aaron comments haha!
(but seriously, Aaron can actually act quite well*, to my surprise. I thought all Fahrenheit members were cursed with only 2 faces when they act, like how Wu Chun was in My Princess. Two faces! Do you know how painful it was? )
*by quite well, I mean in comparison with other members. HAHAHA. Oops.
GRAHH but I’m so busy now that I can’t watch anymore episodes. I’m saddddd. Even though a lot of my readers don’t really watch Taiwanese Dramas, I think I will still do Love Buffet recaps! There are however, no promises that I will still carry through when Xiao Feng pisses me off(:

First impressions of Love Buffet
or the 1st episode recap(:
Yep! I’ve currently moved on to this Taiwanese Drama, and am very pleased to find out that it’s about university students, until I read the Dramawiki synopsis and I was like 0.0 Apparently, Xiao Feng falls in love with Da Ye, gets hurt by him, falls in love with Ah Yi, gets hurt by him, then crawl back to Da Ye…..
WHAT?!
I’m sorry hahaha, my reaction is entirely due to the fact that I do not like female characters with no backbone and no dignity. ARGH. Okay, but to be fair, first episode was pretty nice and sweet.
Xiao Feng and Ah Yi are in the same faculty and coincidentally, in the same class as well. They are in the same group for a project that got to do with kids. Xiao Feng plays Blindman with the kids, while Ah Yi sits at a side to read the handouts and information. He realises that one of the kid is stabbing his soft toys and quickly read his profile. Ah Yi realises that that kid is a quiet one, and is very violent. Then, the kid stands up and walks towards Xiao Feng, with his sharp object pointed towards her. Ah Yi quickly stands up, and takes his precious cup along with him so that other kids will not accidentally bump into the table and break it. He snatches the sharp object from the boy, who started crying. Upon hearing his cries, Xiao Feng pulls off her blindfold, and demands that Ah Yi apologises to the boy. Ah Yi doesn’t explain, and turn to walk away. Xiao Feng pulls his arm, which causes him to fling the box ( with the cup inside) away and the cup breaks. Ah Yi is heartbroken but Xiao Feng doesn’t really want to apologise because she thinks that it’s still his fault for making the boy cry.
Xiao Feng and Da Ye bond when they both try to get a home for the dog. First, they bond when they give out flyers together, and Xiao Feng’s friends give her the idea that maybe Da Ye likes her. If not, why will he be doing so much for her? Then, they bond when they bring the dog to have his immunity jab. Soon after, they bond in the rain, when the dog suddenly falls ill and they have to find a 24hr open vet hospital to take care of the dog. Due to the rain, both of them fall sick, and Xiao Feng takes care of Da Ye. When Ah Yi returns home, he finds the door open and Xiao Feng’s shoes outside the door. Xiao Feng falls asleep by Da Ye’s side ( because he wants someone to sit by his side) and jerks awake. She rushes out and opens the door, but Ah Yi falls into the room. She and Ah Yi have this mini fall out, because Ah Yi thinks that Xiao Feng and Da Ye are together being lovey dovey, so he shall not interrupt them, but Xiao Feng tries to tell him that she’s just taking care of him. She storms off in anger, but Ah Yi stops her and throws a cup of… jelly?pudding? towards her and returns to the house. Xiao Feng remains confused.
Turns out Ah Yi is not as cold as he seems, and he helps the both of them by putting ads on the internet. Someone sees these ads and decides to adopt the stray dog. Xiao Feng and Da Ye want to express their gratitude, so they plan to cook a meal for him, until they start fighting each other with.. prawns. Eee.
Ah Yi basically piss Xiao Feng off when he tells her that Da Ye will never, ever fall in love with her.
Yeah that’s about it(:
It’s quite funny and sweet and nice, but I am very apprehensive when it comes to the more emo part, because I’m pretty sure none of their acting skills can carry it off. Sigh. It takes quite some time to get used to the act cute tones that Taiwan girls usually adopt ( no offence everybody!) but oh well, I think Taiwan guys like the way they speak, so more and more girls speak like that.
By the way, Ah Yi manages to fix the broken cup by piecing everything back together, and Xiao Feng sees the cup and wonders why Ah Yi tells her that he has thrown it away.
Okay I shall watch Episode 2 soon!:D

Les Choristes

Gosh what can I say? J’adore le film<3 (Well, it doesn’t take anyone who learns French to understand that sentence!)
It was a really good watch and I think that it indeeds earns the reputation that it has now. Basically, it’s about a teacher, Mathieu, who thinks that he has failed in every aspect of life and he finds a job at a boarding school that is meant for troubled children. During his first few days there, he witnesses the harsh and brutal discipline carried out by the headmaster, Rachin. Mathieu uses his own ways, love and humour to keep discipline within the boys and even forms a choir out of them. However, Rachin just has to constantly spoil the picture by disapproving what Mathieu has done, or to steal his credit. As the days go by, the boys fall deeper and deeper in love with singing and they become more obedient as well.
The overaching plot for this film is simple enough, but it succeeded by its portrayal of love. It is very heartwarming and touching to see how Mathieu changes the attitude of the students and their lives by his love for them and his unusual ways. This shows that discipline can only be truly enforced by love, and not by the infamous ‘lock-up’ that Rachin loves to carry out.
I think there’s so many subtle messages in this film that it takes a while to uncover them. In the end, Mathieu gets fired ( on a Saturday… I don’t really get that part! Can anyone explain it to me? Why did the narrator say that Pepinot was right and Mathieu was fired on a Saturday?) but he continues to teach music lessons and shares his love with others. I felt sad for him, I must admit. During the whole movie, it seems like there was potential for him to become famous, to become great, but ultimately even he knows that no one will know him and he will still remain as small as he is. Yet, I think it was interesting how… if you think about it the second time, he isn’t just that ‘small, small, small’ person as Rachin has pointed out! No, he definitely isn’t. What sets him apart from others is his love and his kind ways. Even though right at the start, he seems like a very minor character, such that Pierre seems not to be able to remember him, and at the end, he’s just another music teacher, but in the process, he has touched so many hearts of others. He doesn’t need to be famous just to do the things he love.
The acting’s certainly up to mark. Just by a look, and you know that Mathieu is in love with Pierre’s mother, and take another look and you can see the joy in Pierre’s eyes when he knew that he was forgiven by Mathieu. The music is lovable as well. It’s thus official that I’ve fallen in love with one of the songs ( Vois sur ton chemin)! It’s amazing how all these boys bring out the beauty of music. Music can really do a lot of things. It has a lot to do with the portrayal of feelings, and it’s even a lauguage and a bridge for people. In the end, it was music that allows the boys to give their last farewell to Mathieu ( I presume he went back to teach after Rachin is gone?)
Any film would have failed if the characters possess only a one-dimension personality. I love how Les Choristes brings out the two sides of every character. Even Rachin was portrayed as for a while, ( no matter how short that period was ), changing and turning into someone who is actually fun and young at heart. It does irritate me to no end that Rachin manages to steal the limelight for Mathieu. To me, that’s equaivelant of stealing someone’s hard work and creativity and that’s just totally sucky!
This film is of course, not perfect, but I really can’t pinpoint any flaw other than the slightly slow pace at some points. I have no idea if I’m largely biased since I love music, and I’m obviously mesmerized by their singing, but yes I do think it is quite a good watch. I do know that some people think it’s very cliche… but honestly speaking, if it’s like any other films, they would have made Moudain back into someone good, and made Mathieu famous. No? It really differs by each individual, I must say.
Not to mention that you can just watch Les Choristes for Jean-Baptiste Maunier. Heh:P
