First impressions of City Hunter Episode 1-5

Hello my dear readers! Yes I’ve started on a new drama called City Hunter, starring Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young….. and I love the show! Nice action, smart guy, smart girl, nice second leads (more on that later hee hee), and basically very good looking leads with good plot… -thumbs up!-

As you probably know, I usually don’t start off with recaps for the first few episodes, because they are always just like the soup of the day to me — getting ready for the main course. Alternatively, you could also say that me watching the first few episodes and doing reviews is like testing the water. If I like it, I will continue, if I don’t…. too bad 😛

This time round, it’s a bit different, because my first impressions of the drama is filled with screenshots!

To cut the long story short, there were 5 high ranking officials who planned for 21 special agents to infiltrate North Korea and kill North Korea agents. However, the 5 officials decide to abort the plan and they had their own people to kill the 21 agents so as to seal off the existence of the plan itself. Yet, one out of this 21 agents survived and he’s called Jin Pyo. He was actually saved by his own team mate, Moo Ryul, and he swore to avenge his team mates. He snatched the one-month old son of Moo Ryul and brought him up to be excellent in fighting, shooting etc. 17 years later, he told the son, Yoon Sung (Lee Min Ho) about his goal but lied that he was abandoned by his mother. Yoon Sung went to MIT for 7 years, and he returned to Korea as a government official. He meets a girl called Kim Na Na (Park Min Young) who works as a bodyguard for the Blue House. Thus, a plot of revenge, love and secrets begin.

Mulling

Hello my dear readers!

Thoughtsramble has been mulling over certain things recently… It sorta depresses me a little to realise that this livejournal will probably not go on forever. No, it doesn’t mean that I’m stopping now, of course not…. but when I get busy next time, I don’t think I would have the time to do recaps anymore… reviews on dramas probably but not recaps since they take a lot of time. I’ve been thinking of ways that I can make this livejournal into something that can quite last, but other than putting advertisements here to gain some form of revenue, I don’t think there’s any other methods. Besides, I started thoughtsramble purely because of my love for dramas, writing and making friends… so we shall see yeah? I’m such a computer noob that I don’t even want to put advertisments here because I’m sure it will screw up somewhere 😛

Of course, I’m thinking too far ahead. That decision-making time wouldn’t come yet for a long time, so I shall just enjoy writing thoughtsramble right now.

I’m sure I would have time to update once in a while when that time comes… but is once in every two weeks good enough for myself and my fellow readers?

On a less serious note, I’m going to start watching City Hunter! My friend recommended it to me hee hee.

Gosh

Hey guys! I’ve came back from a mini vacation, so I shall be updating thoughtsramble pretty soon!

I’m going crazy with Livejournal. Is it just my computer, or does Livejournal suck big time? Whenever I spot a spelling mistake in my entries and I want to correct it, the entry goes bonkers and all the alignment goes HAYWIRE. I’ve also mentioned before about how my entries will get deleted when I post them. Sometimes, when I edited the entry, and I saved the entry, it’s still not edited. Why?

I’m really reluctant to change to other platforms because it would be really troublesome, and I’m the kind that is quite adverse to change lol. But seriously, it’s going to affect the quality of my recapsD: So guys, if sometimes you spot spelling mistakes, or that the alignment is really strange and haywire, do pardon meD:

Updates!

Hello!!

I’ve missed you guys! I’m sorry that I haven’t been updating very regularly for the past few weeks because I’ve been having examinations, performances and organizing events.. so it was kinda hectic! 😛 It’s going to be a break for me from now on, and even though I’ve every plans to fill it with fun activities, I’m definitely going to post more often from now on!:D

I’ve finished recapping Love Buffet and Gloomy Salad Days, and will be working on MIT recaps. If I have time/ interest, I will continue to review/recap Toda Erika’s drama (sorry, I really can’t conjure up the title in my mind right now, this is what happens when you have an ultra long title in a language that you are not good in) 😛 Of course, I’m really interested in watching X Family and K.One 😀

So yep!

Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta Episode 1, 2, and 3 Review

Wowwww longgg title man!! To be honest, I don’t remember any part of the title lol. Apparently, if you translate it into Chinese (which I will translate into English) it means — You have taught me to learn what is important. Okayyy so it’s a meaningful title, that’s why it’s so long:D

It’s been a long time since I’ve started on a new drama! I’m going to recap this drama probably, but as you know, I rarely start recapping from the start, so this will just be a post on my impression of the drama.

Firstly, Toda Erika’s acting is awesome. She totally convinced me of her character and one thing that I love to observe is how actors/actresses start crying. To me, it’s really a test of one’s acting skills. It doesn’t mean that if you have tears, you have good acting skills. For example, I thought that Ady An’s acting skills weren’t that great in terms of the sad scenes, as I’ve mentioned in some of the recaps. Some may question this judgement of mine since it’s evident that her tap can be turned on pretty easily……but it just doesn’t move me. I don’t know if you will understand, but I feel like she is acting, rather than being her character.

On the other hand, Toda Erika is really good. I can see the hurt in her eyes, and in Episode 2, there was this scene where she cried from betrayal and she looked at the guy in the mirror, while the camera captured her eyes from the mirror’s reflection. I LOVE THAT SCENE.

As for the guy, Shuji, acted by Miura Haruma, I don’t have any particular feelings towards him yet. He’s supposed to be this really good looking guy, but I’ve an issue with the mole-looking thing at the bottom of his chin, and he looks really strange from some angles. You know, he’s that kind of face where he looks really really great from some angles, but he just doesn’t work the camera from other angles.

Hikari, acted by Takei Emi, is a really important character here, because she’s the one that Shuji bed right from the start. Okay for those who have no idea what I’m talking about, Shuji woke up in epsiode one finding a nude girl lying on his bed. This girl is called Hikari and she ends up being his student in school. Hikari likes him and harbours feelings of jealousy towards Natsumi (Toda Erika) who is Shuji’s fiance. She tries to break them up and Natsumi is currently hurt by Shuji when she realises that he and Hikari did it.

So ah..you probably know why I hate her. Enough said.

Though it seems like she’s a character with more than one side. She’s not just all bad… it seems like she has this other side to herself which we will find out through the unfolding of the drama’s plot.

Eager to start on Episode 4!

Hee!

Hey guys!

I’m so sorry that I’ve not been very active for the past week… because I’m having examinations soon and (IM GOING TO DIE ARGH) I’ve not been preparing a lot for it already as I’ve been drama marathon-ing Gloomy Salad Days and Pi Li MIT, hence I will give you guys more recaps one or two days later. Soon!!:DD

Need your love and luck haha:D

I really need another good drama soon, recommendations anyone?

Pi Li MIT and Gloomy Salad Days

DRAMA BLUES AGAIN!!

I’ve just finished watching Pi Li MIT, a.k.a The Clue Collector, and gosh, the drama blues! I really like 007 and Lucifer, and also all members of MIT. It’s kinda surprising for me to see GuiGui act so well in the last few episodes of MIT. On the other hand, even though I’m obviously not complaining, Aaron’s character has less space for him to show/improve his acting skills, as 007 is someone who is cool, but as usual, very sweet towards the girl.

I want a sequel! -starts chanting- It will be really nice to see all five of them act in the same drama again!

Recaps of this drama will be coming soon<3

On a side note, I'm going to finish watching Gloomy Salad Days as well, and haha, sometimes I hate it when I watch 2 good dramas at the same time, because when both finish, the drama blues will be DOUBLE. 'Tis not very good when I'm having examinations right now, heh:P

Castle In The Air Review

Hello guys!:D

Recently, I’ve just gone to the library for a sweep of books, and guess what, I return home with 3 Diana Wynne Jones (who had just died recently, and I’m really sad D:)

So, I’ve managed to finish Castle In The Air within one sitting, and I really like it! It’s a story about Abdullah and how he comes into possession of a flying carpet. He meets with Flower-In-The-Night (which is an absolutely delightful name if you think about it) and falls in love with her. However, before they could elope, Flower-In-The-Night gets abducted! –cues gasps- And so Abdullah sets off on this journey to get his princess back.

Of course, I really like the ‘cameo’ appearance of Howl, Lettie, Sophie and Calcifer in this story! It was really fun to read more about them and to find out what happened with Howl and Sophie after Howl’s Moving Castle.

As for the story itself, I thought that it’s quite interesting… but somehow it seems like Howl’s Moving Castle’s story line manages to grab my attention more than this story. Maybe it’s because I’ve watched the animated film of Howl’s Moving Castle… I really don’t know… but the exciting parts of the story seem to come towards the end of the story, rather than throughout the story like Howl’s Moving Castle. I’m not saying that exciting bits at the end of the story is bad. It’s just that everyone has different reading tastes and all that, and I happen to prefer, if given a choice, stories that constantly put me on suspense.

That being said, Castle In The Air is still an absolutely delightful read for me!<3 I love how Diana Wynne Jones can put her readers into this temporary journey into another world, and when you turn the last page, you are reluctant to leave the world.

Updates:D

Hello guys!<3

Exams have been hell to me so far:/ I’ve been falling sick regularly because I just hate exams sooo much, and they keep coming! THEY WOULDN’T STOP OH SAVE ME.

Lol. Anyway, life has been quite hectic so far, what with juggling dramas and exams and fangirling:P I’m currently watching Gloomy Salad Days and Pi Li MIT/The Clue Collector, and continuing on Love Buffet Recaps. I’ve just discovered that Shirota Yu has just come up with a new drama called Yotsuba Jinja Ura Kagyo Shitsuren Hoken and I’m so excited to watch it!:DD It seems quite nice, even though I didn’t particularly like the female lead in the show. I’ve been trying to find sites that have online streaming of this drama, but it seems like I can’t find it:/ Oh well. I guess I will just have to wait a little longer!

Next on my list should be Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta (what’s up with all the long titles!) starred by Toda Erika. She acts as a teacher inside. Maybe it’s because my most recent memory of her acting is in Liar Game where she is this naive girl, so it just doesn’t feel right to see her acting as a teacher haha! I’m sure though, that she will carry it off really good:D If I have time while juggling all these dramas, I would really, really love to check out K.O One and X Family for Aaron/Fahrenheit haha!

Oh well you can see my list building up…. and last on my list should be Paradise Ranch or Queen of Reversals. It seems that lately, none of the korean dramas are pulling me in at all. Suggestions anyone? It seems like I’ve watched all the good stuff already:/

Review of The Next Aaron Yan EP

OOPS:D Hee is it a littttleeee too huge?! Hahah I’ve no idea how to make it any smaller because he would end up either looking very stretched or looking like he just got squashed by his fans:P

Hahaha I knew that I probably would be doing something like this, that’s why in my review of Super Hot, I did say that that will be one of the few times. Well, this time is one of the few times as well!

Okie, so he had six songs in this EP, namely:

1. 下一個我 The next me
2. 只看見妳 I can see nothing but you
3. 一觸即發 Touch and go
4. 最後一眼 Just one look
5. 忽然之間 Suddenly
6. The Truth That You Leave

I have read a few local reviews that said that ohhh the fact that there are only six songs, and two of them aren’t created from scratch, shows the company’s lack of thought that is put into the album… Okay it really depends on how you look at it. One review said very nicely, that it feels a little too rushed, but another review that I read was being all whiny about it and kept harping on how there’s onlyyyy four songs. What I really wanted to say was — My dear, there’s a reason why it’s called EP -smile-.

Haha! Okay I must admit that I’m a little biased in my review because I’m a fan of his… but I must also tell you guys, that I like him even more after this album, so there must be some reason behind it. Of course, not all reviews that I’ve read are bad. I’ve read some who expressed surprise at his song, The Next Me. Yep! I think that he really did quite well for that song! It has a special melody. In fact, I didn’t really like it the first time I’ve heard it because it isn’t thaaat mainstream, and it’s very unlike Fahrenheit’s style, but after hearing it for the second time, it has officially grown on me. It’s the nth time that I’m listening to the song now, and I love it! His voice is very special and I think it brings out the song quite nicely. (Oooh on a side note, Aaron’s voice was the first one that I can pick out from Fahrenheit! Haha)

My favourite track from the EP is Touch and Go. I really like the melody, and I admit that I will still have liked the song even if Aaron wasn’t singing it… but somehow I feel like he enhanced the song and the lyrics, thus bringing a rendition that I really like. My first thought when I heard I Can See Nothing But You was that "That’s totally Tank’s style". Yes, and that’s, unfortunately, not a good thing because all the bad reviews said that it isn’t a very special song; it’s just a normal mainstream song…which I kinda agreed with, until the song grows on me. I mean, there’s a reason why mainstream songs are famous, even though I do think that it’s a littttleee bit of a waste that the style of the song sounded like Tank.

I really like Suddenly as well. It’s on par with Touch and Go and The Next Me as my top favourites. I know that some, okay many, people have been comparing it with the original singer, Karen Mok. Of course, I wouldn’t say that Aaron sang it better than Karen Mok, but I felt like he brought the song across quite nicely as well. The only song that hasn’t left much impression on me yet was Just One Look. When I heard it, all I thought of was, "Hmm this is a nice song" but it doesn’t stay in my mind…

Okay, if you have been following my livejournal, you would know that I’m someone who really loves music…so….I UTTERLY LOVE THE TRUTH THAT YOU LEAVE!! Hee! (Lol an outburst of fangirling-ness) It’s a piece that is apparently very famous across various blogs and the company bought the copyrights for him to play. AND AND you can’t imagine how I feel when I imagine Aaron playing this on the piano, focusing on the notes… and bringing emotions into each and every one of them<3 Haha! Not sure if you guys know what I mean…but I was really very happy to find out that Aaron Yan loves playing the piano/could play it well.

I really like both MVs released as well! Whoo he looks sooooo good in specs for I Can See Nothing But You and that kiss on the forehead at the last scene is sooo sweet! In The Next Me, I could see the ten different characters portrayed and even though some may be thoroughly against him stripping, I’m actually quite for it. I don’t know… maybe it’s because of the Lit-ty side in me (English Literature) that I could see the meaning behind him stripping. Granted, it may be a gimmick on the company’s side to simply raise lots of attention…but to me, I like how Aaron wants to take off the ‘idol’ burden that he has been carrying with him for so many years. I felt like… some people were against it simply because of the action itself — that it’s stripping stark naked… but….I mean I don’t know, if you get past that stage of the action itself, and think about the meaning behind it….

Yep! That’s my take on the EP, The Next Aaron. I probably wouldn’t be doing reviews in the near future unless someone I like comes out with a new album (homg I think Fahrenheit is coming out with an album at the end of the year!)

What do you guys think!

Review of Fahrenheit’s album, Super Hot

Okay to be honest, I hesitated writing this post… because I wouldn’t want thoughtsramble to become a site for fangirling purposes, if you know what I mean….as in I wouldn’t want it to become toooo un-drama/movie/something-you-watch related… but I figure that this will probably the only/one of the few time(s) that I do this, and it’s something that I currently like right now…so why not!:D

File:Fahrenheitsuperhot2010.jpg

Okay so here’s the album track listing:

  1. "太熱" Tai Re (Super Hot)
  2. "Sexy Girl"
  3. "心疼你的心疼" Xin Teng Ni De Xin Teng (Heartache on Your Heartache)
  4. "繼續愛" Ji Xu Ai (Keep Loving You)
  5. "很安靜" Hen An Jing (Very Quiet)
  6. "守護星" Shou Hu Xing (Guardian Star)
  7. "活得更像我" Huo De Geng Xiang Wo (Going On My Way)
  8. "誤會" Wu Hui (Mistake)
  9. "泰山程式" Tai Shan Cheng Shi (Tai Shan Formula)
  10. "新生" Xin Sheng (Rebirth)

I haven’t bought the album yet, but I’m considering buying it. Lol. I know I’m slow, but come on, I only like them since March? and it was all because of Aaron in Love Buffet. It’s amazing how just because I like Ah Yi in Love Buffet (Do check out my recaps!), I go on to like Aaron, and then Fahrenheit. Even though ultimately I still like Aaron the most, I do like all four members of them, especially how ‘real’ they feel in front of the camera. Out of the ten songs, I’m currently am in love with five — Heartache on Your Heartache, Very Quiet, Guardian Star, Mistake and Keep Loving You.

Granted… you wouldn’t classify Fahrenheit as a band that has awesome singing skills, but I like how their voices still contain so much emotions in the songs. I also like how all four members’ voices have their own characteristics that merge together to give a nice rendition. (Just clarifying, I’ve alway quite like Fahrenheit since their debut, but it was more of a…. ooh I like their songs, and yep they are quite good looking!) Lol! Since I’m on this topic, let me tell you guys my story with Fahrenheit — Aaron was the first one that I like, but the fickle me at that time dropped him after seeing a very fat photo of him (homg I can’t believe I did that hahahahah and it wasn’t like he was really fat, it was just a really badly taken photo). Then I went on to Wu Zun, who was quite all right, until he acted in My Princess… and well, let’s just say that his acting skills….are rather non existent, seeing that he only has 2 expressions (even now lol!) After which I went on to Jiro, who was okay but I didn’t quite like his shows, To-Get-Her and Momo Love…. and then I came full circle and end up with Aaron again. Haha! Okay yes, it’s rather obvious that I bypassed Calvin. Oh well. (Calvin fans, I do like him okay^^ He’s quite funny)

SO yes. You can see why I say that it’s complicated^^

ANYWAY.

To me, it doesn’t matter if the person can’t sing awesomely well. What matters if I can feel anything from the songs, and that’s why I really like the five songs mention above, because I could feel their sadness, heartache (in a sense), passion in Heartache on Your Heartache, Very Quiet and Mistake. I could also feel their upbeat jovial mood in Guardian Star (which was written for their fans…. aww how sweet!) I only just discover Keep Loving You, but it already took me in with the melody.

I’m quite all right with Super Hot and Rebirth, but I haven’t really taken any particular stand towards Tai Shan Formula, Sexy Girl and Going On My Way. The only reason why I would be seen fangirling over Super Hot and Sexy Girl is because Aaron looks super good in both mvs<333 Okay fine, all four of them look great. I think. Hahahaha, okay admittedly I haven’t been paying much attention haha!

I think Fahrenheit has always been my favourite band (though it was more of a neutral stand last time) because they always manage to have songs with super good melodies, and somehow they do convey the right emotions. It doesn’t take a well-polished voice to portray what you want to sing. It does make me sad when the people around me look at me with surprise when I say that I like Fahrenheit, and their immediate response is almost always, "They are just eye candy!"

Aww~~~ Okay, but I do have friends who like them as well, so everything’s fine haha! I guess I just really like Fahrenheit’s together-ness and team dynamics, which you can really see in variety shows!

What do you guys think?

Hello!

Hello friends!^^

Wow it has been a (relatively) long time since I updated anything! As you guys should know, there’s some problems with Livejournal these few days, and for some reason my IP address was still blocked even though most of my friends’ weren’t since yesterday. Haha, a lot have happened in the past few days! I fell utterly in love with Aaron (LOL:P) and I’m amazed at my good timing because I like him just when he’s releasing/released an album so there’s lots of awesome good news about him around. I’m glad that his album sales are good!^^ I’ve just had my exams, and I finally can rest for a while…and I rediscovered the awesomeness of Jacky Wu (homg I’ve never laughed so hard for an episode of I Guess for a long time… I guess (no pun intended!) without Jacky Wu, I Guess is not I Guess.)

I will be coming up with recaps pretty soon, so looked out for them!^^
